Why do we believe in an Open API?

Through the API we are aiming to facilitate a new vision of travel. The future travel chain starts with your inspiration to travel and then covers the entire process of searching for a flight, booking, paying, planning your trip, getting to & around at the airport, flying, ground transport to your destination and sharing your experience.

To make travel truly seamless, Lufthansa’s data must be connected to other mobility providers and services which travelers use on their journey. We want to build a better travel experience for our passengers together with you. That’s why we have decided to enable access to our data and let your vision shape our vision of travel!

How can you benefit?

Our move beyond the traditional airline model enables you to co-create with us by using data sets from Lufthansa and combining it with other offers along a new, visionary travel chain. If you create solutions that make travelling easier or more fun, we have 100 million passengers who are your prospective customers.

As a start, we have enabled core services around the flight status, schedule and seatmap. In the meantime, our team is working hard to get more exciting features around flight and ancillary services, inflight entertainment, lounges and much more. What’s next beyond the data access?

We want to support your solutions as much as possible. Use our airline expertise to make your solutions better. This might start with a pure usage of certain data but we might find opportunities to build joint products with you.
